An Innovative Material and Blending Process

The technology developed by Cerestech is a novel material based on a blend of synthetic or natural resin and thermoplastic starch (TPS), which is prepared via a unique one-step process.

The innovative combination of plastic resin and TPS can provide a environmentally-friendly product that is cost-effective to conventional polymer products and with equivalent performance.

Since the physical properties of the materials are similar to those of pure synthetic resins and the technology

uses a single step process, processing costs are also close to those for making conventional plastic products such as film for bags, tapes, and sheet.

Terraloy™ Blends

  • Contain a significant quantity of annually renewable bio-based material and reduce the dependance on polymer resins derived from non-renewable resources
  • Significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, lower non-renewable energy requirements and can be recycled with little loss in performance-Terraloy™ Eco series
  • Are also available as a biodegradable offering-Terraloy™ Bio series
  • Have excellent strength characteristics
  • Can be readily used to manufacture the same plastic products typically made of polyethylene, polypropylene and other natural or synthetic resins
  • Are cost-competitive
  • Are based on a comprehensive patent platform derived from years of intensive research efforts
